Thanks to our ground breaking, internationally patented crating solutions and the clear environmental advantages of our materials we have been able to grow from our proudly South African roots to make significant inroads internationally.
Rebul founder Tony Huggett developed the first prototype in 2000.

In 2001 Rebul Packaging came into being and production of the Rebul Freight Crate started. With innovation built into its DNA, the company received recognition right off the bat, winning a coveted Gold Pack "Innovative Corrugated Trophy" in that very year. International expansion started in 2005, with a licensee established in Australia. The company was rewarded by winning a gold medal at the Australian Packaging Awards in 2007. The final, refined version of the Rebul Freight Crate came into being in 2008 in Cape Town.

In the decade since, the product has been continually refined. By 2010 the Rebul Freight Crate is patented in several countries, including South Africa, Australia, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Canada and New Zealand. The product draws strong interest from future clients and potential investors overseas, from the likes of the art industry in Europe to major transport and logistics companies in the USA. The operation in Montague gardens is doubled in 2012. 2014 is a huge year, with production starting up in Johannesburg and Rebul Cape Town relocating to Epping, more than doubling capacity to 2000m².

The United States patent is obtained. 2015 Rebul invests in automated honeycomb and board manufacturing machinery and starts to manufacture the materials locally. This investment also sees the design and devolpment of the Rebul Interlok Crate, which holds an international design patent and offers a secondary solution to those looking to safely package on a budget. Manufacturing capacity was enhanced in 2016 with the purchase of a CNC board cutting machine to improve products. The machine enables the precision cutting necessary to bring the Rebul Interlok Crate into full production.
